Peñiscola

{ is not a compound word }

Walking through the 4-star hotel doors (thanks Mom & Dad) it was refreshing to be in a place bustling with activity.  Our cab driver drove us at 150 km an hour to make sure we got to our hotel at 10:57 instead of 11:06.  But check in wasn't till 4pm (16:00 in the native language) so we dropped off our bags and walked to the nearest town, Benicarló.  Some great art work in the town, a giant rusty crab lowest picture in the loop and Sponge Bob Squarepants above that.  As we later came to find, this is the more residential town, while Peñiscola is the resort spot.  We found an amazing Chinese buffet that included a section where you select the meats and they cook it on the spot.

Upon checking in, we came up to our suite that included a complimentary bottle of Cava, basically Spanish champagne.  We drank it on the balcony overlooking the swimming pool and decided we needed to buy a timeshare as soon as possible.

That night we walked into Peñiscola for dinner and drinks.  Not as much happening as we had hoped.  We went into a bar with loud music, it was pretty much dead.  But they had American schwag all over the walls. Some racercar things, old licence plates from Pennsylvania, New York and Jersey (alas no First State), and a Miami Dolphins pennet. I asked the bartender about NFL and was able to score a hand drawn map, picture apears in tomorrows exciting continuation.  Once we're back at the hotel we watched the end of Barcelona obliterating a local high school team 6-1.   Alas, no Discoteca for us.
